RRB sets a minimum signature size of 30 KB as well as a 70 KB maximum. A tiny, clean scan can fall below the minimum, so scan at a reasonable resolution and let the preset aim for about 50 KB rather than crushing the file.

How to resize a RRB Signature
- Choose the RRB Signature preset. It is already selected on this page: 140 × 60 px at 200 DPI, with a 30–70 KB working range.
- Upload your signature. Sign in running hand with a dark blue or black pen on plain white paper. Crop close to the strokes but leave a small white margin.
- Download and check the file. The target is 50 KB. Confirm the output size shown by the tool, then upload the downloaded file to the official portal before the form closes.
Official RRB signature rules
- Upload a JPEG between 30 KB and 70 KB. The lower bound matters: a very small file can be rejected even when it looks sharp.
- Use the 140 × 60 px box, which matches the 4 cm × 2 cm signature area.
- Sign in running hand with black or blue ink on plain white paper.
- Do not use capital or block letters.
- Keep a small white margin around the strokes so the ends are not clipped.
Why RRB signature files get rejected
- The file is 29 KB, below the RRB minimum, or above 70 KB.
- The signature is printed, typed or written in block capitals.
- A ruled line, table edge or phone shadow is visible in the crop.
- One end of the signature is cut off by a tight crop.
- The scan is so compressed that thin strokes turn into a grey blur.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the RRB signature minimum 30 KB?
RRB publishes both a lower and an upper limit for the signature upload. A file below 30 KB is outside that window even if the image looks fine. This preset aims for about 50 KB to stay clear of both edges.
What if my clean signature scan is only 12 KB?
Scan at a higher resolution or export a larger crop first, then resize. Adding empty space around the strokes also gives the encoder more to work with. Do not add noise or fake detail just to inflate the file.
Can I sign in capitals for RRB?
No. Use a running-hand signature in the same style you would sign on paper. Block letters and printed names are treated as invalid signatures.
