How to split an image into a grid
- Drop the photo in. Upload any JPG, PNG, or WebP photo into the browser. Your image renders instantly at full resolution with an interactive grid overlay and dimension readouts.
- Pick a grid preset or set custom rows and columns. Select 3x3 for an Instagram 9-grid profile banner, 3x1 for seamless panoramic swipe carousels, 2x2 for equal quadranted tiles, or enter custom column and row counts for tailored splits.
- Download individual tiles or a single ZIP. Click any individual tile to save it directly, or click Download All (ZIP) to get all sliced tiles numbered sequentially in a clean archive ready for uploading.
Technical specifications & privacy
Image splitting executes entirely on your device using client-side HTML5 Canvas. Pixel divisions are calculated with sub-pixel rounding and remainder balancing across tiles so the entire original photo is preserved without blank gaps or discarded edge strips. Supports photos up to 60 megapixels in JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats. File packaging uses local in-memory ZIP compression. No image data is ever transmitted to an external server.
Common questions
How do I upload a 3x3 grid to Instagram?
Instagram profile grids display images in reverse chronological order (newest posts first). To make your 9-grid look correct on your profile, upload Tile 9 first, followed by Tile 8, 7, and so on down to Tile 1.
Can I create seamless panorama swipe carousels?
Yes. Choose 3x1 (or custom columns with 1 row) to slice wide panorama photos into adjacent square or rectangular slides that swipe seamlessly without visible seams in multi-post Instagram carousels.
Does splitting an image reduce its clarity or sharpness?
No. Each tile is rendered directly from your full-resolution original image without downsampling or aggressive compression. PNG keeps pixel-perfect lossless quality, and JPEG saves at high photo fidelity.
Is there any limit on how many rows or columns I can split?
You can split up to 10 columns by 10 rows (100 total tiles) directly in your browser. All slices are generated in memory and bundled instantly into a downloadable ZIP archive.
